Golf… a pain in the bum!!

Bum pain is mainly cause by 3 structures – referral from the lower back, from the hip joint itself, or injuring the gluteal tendons. They are common in golfers due to the amount of rotational force and downward force occurring at the hip during the swing. Improving the flexibility and strength in and around the hip-spine-pelvis is best way to prevent and resolve bum pain.

Easy wins to prevent bum pain:

  1. Open your lead hip to 10 or 11 o’clock
  2. Practice should match the course
  3. Warm-up before you hit
  4. Start a tailored strength and mobility exercise program
